Postgraduate Student Association in collaboration with Pusat Islam USM, Institute of Postgraduate Studies (IPS) and BHEPP (Bahagian Hal Ehwal dan Pembangunan Pelajar) - organizing Malaysian IPT Postgraduates Quran Recitation and Memorization Competition. Universiti Sains Malaysia is organizing this competition for the first time in which 20 Malaysian Government will participate.

OBJECTIVES:
- To service the Holy book and promote the general standards of Quranic performance.
- To encourage postgraduate student to read the Quran so as to instil good values and morals amongst individuals and the society we live in.
- To encourage healthy competition by bringing together postgraduate students participants from different Malaysian universities belongs to different Islamic countries.
- To honor outstanding reciters of Quran
- To present soft image of Muslims by inviting non-Muslims postgraduate students as a guest.
1 – The Malaysian IPT Post-Graduates Quran Recitation & Memorization Competition is open to all postgraduate students locally and internationally (male only).
2 - The competition is divided into two (2) categories, hafazan (whole quran) and tilawah.
3 - Each university is allowed to send two (2) participants in each category.
4 – Tilawah participants will be tested in terms of tajwid, fasahah and voice, while Tahfiz participants will be tested in terms of good memorization, tajwid and fasahah.
5 - The fee for each participant is RM30.00. Fees can be paid during registration on the day of the competition.
6 - Participants must present their student card during registration.
7 – Accomodation for two (2) days and iftar / suhr will be provided by the organizers. Travelling cost are not provided.
8 - Prizes for each category of competition is RM1000.00 for first place, RM600.00 for second place and RM400.00 for third place.
9 - Results of the contest judges are final.
10 - The participants must send the entry form before August 8, 2011 (Monday).
11 - Completed entry forms may be sent along with a copy of identity card / passport via fax 046 567 732 (the Islamic Center USM), or email to usm.qurancompetition@live.com.my.
12 - Date of competition is on August 16, 2011 (Tuesday) while the registration time is 8.30 am.
